Biography:
Infight are a four-piece synth/guitar-driven indie band from Freiburg, Germany. Their debut album “I Heart Discopunk” will be released on 8th April by Noisegate Records and Rough Trade Distribution.
About The Release:
This album is exactly what it says on the cover “Discopunk”. When you hit the play button, you are instantly entered in to a world of extremes created specifically by Infight and their unique hybrid of electro and punk. In order to create this world they couldn’t have chosen two more energetic genres to merge together and this results in an album which is upbeat, lively and just damn right raw! The first song off the album is “No Fitting”, which starts with some incredibly funky drums and bass synth grooves that ease you in to the track before you are confronted by an onslaught of screeching guitars and wonderfully gritty vocals. As soon as all these elements collide, we are assured that this album is going to be a roller-coaster and one hell of a fun journey to be a part of!
As the explosive “No Fitting” terminates, you will find yourself thoroughly hooked on Infight’s infectious concoction of “Discopunk” and severely in need of a higher dosage. Of course Infight do not disappoint, as the next track on the album is “Shoot Shoot Shoot” which has highly addictive key hooks and one of the most catchy chorus’ I’ve ever heard.
By this point in the album you will have become accustomed to the dancey beats and synth that give Infight their party vibe but you will also be aware of lead singer Shorty McPimp’s heavily punk-inspired vocals. For me at least, his voice reminds me of Lars Frederiksen from Rancid/Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards. This definitely highlights Infight’s eclectic nature and the fact that they are true musicians, who are able to appreciate all types and styles of music and apply them effortlessly.
I have heard many bands combine rock, indie and electronica but very few who have successfully blended punk and electro. However, Infight have managed to do exactly that in a fashion that I never thought was possible. If you are looking for something new to add to your music library, then this is definitely it!
